PARENTING

Earn While You Learn: BPAC Baby Bucks:
Clients earn “Baby Bucks” to purchase needed items from the in-house Baby Boutique, Rachel’s Hope Resale Store, or pay for classes at the Burleson ISD Community Education. Clients also earn diapers and wipes for attending classes at the center.

Cradle Club:
These classes are being developed to educate new parents on the importance of early child development, in not only meeting the physical needs of their child, but also the intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs. These classes are being designed for parents of children infant to 1 year of age.

Prenatal Classes:
Pregnancy and parenting are filled with lots of uncertainty.  The BPAC offers prenatal classes to give expectant parents the information and extra confidence needed during this time.  These classes are designed to alleviate much of the tension and fear of pregnancy and delivery.

The 13 week prenatal session provides information including:

     *Fetal growth and development
     *Prenatal nutrition
     *Labor and delivery expectations
     *Newborn care

Parenting 1, 2, 3, 4  can help.  Using videos, activities and group
discussion, a group leader will help you learn important skills for parenting a young child.

The workshop will show you:

     *Discipline methods that work
     *How to prevent tantrums
*How to make rules your child will follow
     *Routines that make life easier
*The best ways to childproof your home
*How to care for your child at different stages
*Great ways to take care of yourself

Plus you’ll meet many other parents of preschoolers—just like you. Each participant gets a Parent’s Workbook and tips booklet to take home after the sessions are over. Take this workshop and see the wonderful difference it makes for you and your family.

Safe Riders Child Safety Seat Distribution and Education Program:
The goal of the program is to assist low-income families with a child safety seat and the related education. In partnering with the state of Texas, the center offers care seats at no charge to individuals who meet the criteria of:

     *self-certified low income,
*have a vehicle with working seat belts,
*and attend a class to learn how to use the car seat correctly.

While we no longer provide this service at the Center, we want to provide you with a link and phone number where you can obtain more information.

National Fatherhood Initiative:  24/7 Dad and Dr. Dad:

24/7 Dad TM is a unique, comprehensive fatherhood program developed by a team of nationally and internationally recognized fathering and parenting experts with input from father practitioners.

The 24/7 Dad TM program focuses on five characteristics that a father needs to be a great dad 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When a father completes the program, he becomes a 24/7 Dad who:

*Is aware of himself as a man and aware of the significant impact
       he has on his family.
*Is a man who takes care of himself physically, emotionally and
        spiritually.
*Is very aware of the significant role he has in the family.
*Is a nurturing parent who clearly understand and accepts the
importance his parenting skills have in developing the physical,
emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual and creative needs of his
        children.
*Works to build and maintain healthy and supportive relationships
with his children, family, friends and his community.
